From the Highway to Home: Szoey’s Miraculous Journey

It happened in a flash. A car sped down the road, and a tiny kitten—helpless, fragile—was in its path. I watched in horror as the car drove right over her. She tumbled, rolled violently, and then lay still. My heart sank.

She hadn’t gone under the tires, but she barely moved. I thought she was gone.

I gently moved her from the highway to a patch of grass. I said a prayer, not knowing if it was goodbye. I walked away with a heavy heart—but something inside me wouldn’t let it end there.

I turned my vehicle around.

She wasn’t where I left her. She had dragged herself further into the ditch. Weak but alive. She hissed and clawed when I got close, scared and in pain—but I scooped her up anyway.

I brought her home.

I checked her little body for injuries. Miraculously, there were none. She had survived the unimaginable. I gave her a warm bath, food, and a soft bed. And then I gave her something more: a forever home.

We named her Szoey.

She’s ours now—and we love her fiercely. From near-death to a new life, Szoey reminds us that even the smallest lives are worth turning back for.
