Four Orphaned Kittens Rescued from Abandoned Warehouse Find New Beginning

CITY SHELTER, July 15, 2025 — A routine welfare check led local animal control officers to a grim discovery last week: four tiny kittens huddled in the freezing corner of an abandoned metal storage unit, with no mother in sight and only a shallow bowl of water and a handful of dry pellets to sustain them.

“When we peered into the dim interior, they didn’t bolt or cry,” recalls Officer Maria Delgado, who helped free the litter. “They just stared at us, their bodies pressed so tightly together that you could barely make out the fourth kitten in the shadows.”

The officers immediately transported the kittens—three brothers and one especially timid sibling—to the City Shelter, where veterinary staff confirmed they were severely underweight but otherwise healthy. “Their trust in people was so fragile,” says Shelter Manager David Nguyen. “You could almost see their relief when we wrapped them in warm blankets and offered fresh formula.”

In the days since their rescue, each kitten has been given a name—Milo, Jasper, Leo, and Luna—and is making steady progress. “They’ve discovered the joy of a full belly, of soft bedding, and even gentle play,” Nguyen reports. “They’re still shy, but they’ve begun purring and stretching without fear for the first time in their young lives.”

The City Shelter is now calling on adopters and donors to help these little survivors and other vulnerable animals. “Every small rescue is a giant leap for a life once forgotten,” Delgado emphasizes. “Let’s not forget the ones hiding in the corners—they need us now more than ever.”
