Mom’s New Best Friend

Mom’s New Best Friend

Meet Trey—our 12-week-old puppy and the newest light in our lives. Today, he paid a very special visit to someone who needed it most: my mom, Zita, who just turned 91.

Mom’s been in a rehab facility after suffering a broken pelvis and hip. The past few months have been incredibly tough—filled with pain, slow recovery, and the challenge of learning to walk again. Smiles have been rare.

But today was different.

For two full hours, Trey worked his magic. Laughter filled the room, and Mom’s face lit up in a way we hadn’t seen in a long time. She smiled, she cuddled, and for a while, the pain was forgotten. The joy was infectious—nurses, aides, and even other patients on the floor came to meet the tiny ball of fluff spreading happiness wherever he went.

Mom was so overjoyed, she asked if we could leave him there with her. While we couldn’t do that, we promised to bring him back soon.

Today reminded us that healing isn’t just physical—it’s emotional too. And sometimes, the best medicine has four legs, a wagging tail, and a heart full of love.

It was a good day.
