A New Chapter for the Musketeers at Somboon Legacy Foundation

Before Kammoon and Malee found a safe and loving home at the Somboon Legacy Foundation, they were part of an inseparable trio with their beloved companion, Somboon. Together, they shared countless memories—bathing in the river, walking side by side, and resting under the shade of the trees. Fondly known as the Three Musketeers, their bond was as heartwarming as it was unbreakable.

Sadly, Somboon passed away several years ago, leaving a deep void in the hearts of his elephant friends and the people who cared for them. His memory continues to live on through the love and trust Kammoon and Malee now share with their human caregivers.

But something beautiful may be beginning again.

Recently, a young elephant named Khun has been showing a special interest in the duo. Gentle, curious, and eager to be close, Khun seems drawn to the quiet strength and wisdom of Kammoon and Malee. Whether it’s joining them on walks or mimicking their playful splashes in the water, Khun is slowly becoming part of their circle.

At the Somboon Legacy Foundation, healing often happens in the most unexpected ways. Perhaps Khun isn’t replacing Somboon—no one ever could—but instead, he’s adding a new layer to an old legacy. And maybe, just maybe, the Three Musketeers are ready for a new member.

Their bond reminds us that friendship and family can be rediscovered, even after loss. And in the heart of the sanctuary, a new trio may be forming—rooted in memory, strengthened by love, and growing toward a hopeful future.
