Meet Our Newest Foster: A Rough Start, But a Heart Full of Hope

Today, I brought home someone very special. This little guy just joined our family from the local shelter, and while his body is tired, his spirit is quietly hanging on. One look at his soulful eyes and I knew—he’s been through more than his tiny body should ever have to endure.
He’s got some skin issues going on, and honestly, he smells a bit like a bag of Fritos (any dog people out there know exactly what I mean). For a moment, I thought about naming him “Frito” because of that, but something about it just didn’t feel right. He’s more than a funny scent. He’s gentle. Vulnerable. Brave.
Despite how sad he looked when I picked him up (and trust me, he looks even sadder in person), we wasted no time getting started on his healing journey. He had his first medicated bath today, followed by tons of cuddles, kind words, and some tasty treats. And in that moment, something softened. He didn’t wag his tail—yet—but I saw it in his eyes: trust was starting to flicker.
Right now, we’re working on building him back up—physically and emotionally. He may not look his best just yet, but he is already loved beyond measure. And I just know that under all that sadness is a goofy, loving soul waiting to shine through.
We’re still deciding on the perfect name for him. Something sweet, something that reflects who he is, not just what he’s been through. Do you have any suggestions? I’d love to hear them.
For now, he’s safe. He’s home. And his journey to healing has finally begun.
