Local Resident Responds to Criticism Over Kindness Towards Wild Fox

A local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, has spoken out following a wave of comments regarding her compassionate interactions with a wild fox visiting her garden. The resident recently shared a photo of a fox, affectionately named “Mr. Fox,” sleeping in a small bed she provided, prompting both heartwarming responses and unexpected criticism.

In a recent statement, the resident clarified her intentions, emphasizing that her actions are driven purely by a desire to offer comfort, not to seek attention or attempt to domesticate the wild animal. “I’m not doing this for attention or trying to make him a pet,” she stated firmly.

According to the resident, Mr. Fox began frequenting her garden approximately nine weeks ago, shortly after she moved into her home. She observed that he is “very tame and often rests under the trees.” The decision to provide a bed came after a particularly rainy day when she saw him “lying there all wet and looking so sad.”

The resident stressed that Mr. Fox’s freedom is paramount. “He’s completely free to come and go as he pleases. I’m not trapping him, and I would never try to domesticate a wild animal.” She also noted that he frequently brings his mate along, further underscoring his wild nature and independent movement.

With no plans to relocate for many years, the resident confirmed her ongoing commitment to Mr. Fox’s well-being. “He will always have a safe, quiet place in my garden — and two humans who care deeply about him,” she affirmed.

Her actions, she explained, stem from a simple desire to extend kindness in a world that can often be unsparing. “In a world that can be so harsh, all I want to do is offer him a little comfort, a warm place to rest, and some nourishment.”

The resident expressed gratitude for the positive feedback received, stating, “Thank you to those who have shown kindness — it means the world to me and to Mr. Fox.” She hopes her clarification will resolve any misunderstandings surrounding her thoughtful gesture towards the wild creature.
