The things I do for cats. I swear I am on my way to Crazy Cat Lady territory.
I live in a rural area known for having people from town drive out here to dump their pets. That’s probably how I ended up with another kitten last August.

Two weeks ago, this little guy was found crying in my backyard, begging to come inside. I already have three indoor cats and my spouse said no to the fourth, so he stayed outside while I posted online, looking for his owners.

Two days ago I noticed him limping and howling, so after calling at least ten vet clinics, of which none would take him without an appointment weeks out, I took him to an emergency vet hospital. Over $600 later the vet told me it’s a snake bite (not venomous?). Poor guy was in so much pain.

I brought him in the house to recover, much to the dismay of my spouse and my other cats. This morning there was
vomit full of worms in it. But the emergency clinic I took him to was closed today, so I drove around town to other clinics who again said I needed an appointment for him to be seen. I tried calling in advance but none would pick up their phones.

Found ANOTHER emergency clinic and got him dewormer meds, plus decided to vaccinate him and check him for transmittable diseases in case he poses a threat to my indoor cats. That was over $400.
So here I am, out over $1000 for a cat that isn’t even mine. I must be crazy.
